Today, May 22, 2023, under the chairmanship of the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the 18th session of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Forum began in Dushanbe.
In the work of the Forum are participating Leaders of Think tanks of member countries, observers and members of the SCO dialogue, a wide range of domestic and foreign experts.
The conference was opened by the director of the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Khayriddin Usmonzoda and he congratulated the participants.
During his speech, Usmonzoda Khairiddin expressed his opinion on the role of the SCO in the development and strengthening of bilateral and multilateral relations between the countries and expressed that the SCO during its existence was able to act as an important international organization in solving the most important political, commercial, economic and cultural issues. humanitarian to make a valuable contribution.
Then Assistant of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan for Foreign Relations, Azamsho Sharifi, presented his opinion on the role of the Republic of Tajikistan in expanding and strengthening the activities of the SCO. Azamsho Sharifi emphasized that the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, as one of the founder of the SCO, constantly pays attention to the development and strengthening of the SCO’s activities, and exchanges opinions with his counterparts in this regard.
Also, the General Secretary of the SCO Zhang Ming stated in his video address that the SCO Forum as a constituent structure of the SCO plays a key role in strengthening and developing the activities of the Organization. During the 18 years of its existence, the SCO Forum has managed to become a reliable forum for consultants and analysts of the member states. Within the framework of the SCO Forum, the analysts and experts of the member states analyze and discuss the pressing issues of the modern world agenda and offer useful recommendations for the protection of the interests of the member states.
In the opening part of the 18th session of the SCO Forum, former Secretary General of the SCO (2016-2018) Rashid Olimov spoke and expressed his opinion regarding the important role of the SCO in the development of the region and the basin of the SCO countries. It was noted that since the beginning of its formation, the SCO has made the issue of ensuring peace and stability, combating modern dangers and threats, and ensuring the sustainable development of the member countries its priority goal. According to the opinion of the former General Secretary of the SCO Rashid Olimov, the SCO Forum plays an effective role in promoting the activities of the Organization and strengthening it. The intellectual centers of the Forum constantly pay attention to pressing issues and offer constructive recommendations for their countries.
