The capital of Islamic Republic of Iran Tehran has hosted Tajik-Iranian International Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Iran.

The main theme of the Conference was 30 years of relations between Tajikistan and Iran: current state and its prospects.

The conference was organized by the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Tehran International Studies and Research Institute.

The conference was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the leadership of the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan as well as experts of intellectual institutions, a wide range of representatives of science and literature, culture, mass media.

The Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), the head of the SCO Cultural Institute as well as the Spokesperson and Head of Public and Media Diplomacy Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran and other well-known figures of the Iran were also invited to the conference.

The participants of the scientific conference expressed their views on comprehensive cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran in various areas since the establishment of diplomatic relations.

During their speeches, most experts mentioned the positive process of cooperation and expressed that with the political will of the leaders of the two countries, the two sides achieved significant progress.

In particular, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran Nizamuddin Zohidi, divided the 30 years of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Iran into four historical periods and emphasized that by the efforts of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, cooperation with the friendly and brotherly country Iran has strengthened and expanded in various fields.

While analyzed 30 years since the establishment diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Iran, Director of the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Khayriddin Usmonzoda, considered cultural cooperation as an important factor in the unity of two countries with the same language and culture.

He also assessed the key role of two countries in ensuring the security of the region.

The director of the Tehran International Studies and Research Institute noted that Tajikistan is a friend and brother country of Iran, and cooperation with this country is a major priority of Iran’s foreign policy.

Following the conference, the book “Tajikistan as the jewel of Central Asia”, which was written by Iranian and Tajik experts was presented.
