The International Day of Peace (Taj. Рӯзи байналмилалии сулҳ) was declared by UN General Assembly Resolution 36/67 on November 30, 1981 as one of the measures to unite collective efforts to stop wars, as well as to create a favorable environment for development and cooperation.
After 20 years, during the 111th plenary session, on September 7, 2001, the organization issued a resolution (55/282), according to which, starting from the 57th session of the General Assembly, September 21 will be celebrated as the International Day of Peace.
Based on this resolution, it was emphasized that from now, the International Day of Peace should be celebrated and recognized as a day of cease-fire and non-violence around the world.
States and peoples were suggested to stop military operations during this day and observe it.
On the occasion of the International Day of Peace from September 19 to 21, 2024, in the cities of Jinan and Weifang of Eastern China’s Shandong Province was held a conference. The conference was organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD) together with the People’s Government of Shandong Province.
On the opening day of the conference, on September 19, under the title «Building a World of Peaceful Coexistence» in the city of Jinan, of Eastern China’s Shandong Province, participated high-ranking representatives of the People’s Republic of China, representatives of 180 foreign political parties, peace and friendship organizations, Think tank centers on the issue of security from the regions different parts of the world, such as Europe, Asia, Africa and America, as well as other relevant institutions of China.
In the event also participated a representative of the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, candidate of historical sciences, head of the Department of analysis of regional security issues, Sharifzoda Saidhomid Safar.
During the event, it was emphasized that the complex situation of modern times, the increasing problems of climate change, the expansion of threats, such as terrorism and extremism, the escalation of armed conflicts in different parts of the world, have acquired an unprecedented character.
It was emphasized that the current situation forces countries to better understand the essence of peace and strive to ensure sustainable development and a common future of humanity on the basis of mutually beneficial interests.
