From September 10 to 12, 2024, in Tashkent was held the Fourth Regional Conference of the Anti-Terrorist Early Warning Network for Central Asia and Training on Increasing the Resilience of Local Communities in the face of extremist ideology.

The conference was held on the initiative of the UN Counter-Terrorism Center, the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia and other specialized UN bodies and development partners.

At the conference participated and spoke the representatives from specialized UN bodies, relevant institutions of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, intellectual centers of the countries of the Central Asian region and other experts in this field.

During the event, representatives of the countries of the region and experts of international organizations analyzed and evaluated their views on: the early warning network against terrorism for Central Asia and the presentation of research on virtual propaganda (online) in Central Asia and Afghanistan; the impact of recent events around the countries of the Central Asian region; activity of regional organizations in Central Asia region; reviewing the situation of terrorists and terrorist groups; regional, national and local security threats and their impact on society; public involvement in the prevention of violent extremism and the fight against terrorism and other issues related to the dangers of terrorism and violent extremism.

In the conference took part and spoke Sharifzoda Saidhomid Safar, candidate of historical sciences, head of the Department for the Study of Regional Security Issues of the Center for Strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, on security threats to the countries of Central Asia, especially the Republic of Tajikistan.

It was emphasized that in recent years, multifaceted political, economic and cultural relations have developed between the countries of the Central Asian region, and they have reached the level of strategic partnership and alliance in the system of interstate relations. It was revealed that along with the strengthening of cooperation in the field of economy and trade, road and communication, the fight against threats and dangers of terrorism, extremism and separatism is now an important area of ​​cooperation between the countries.

Sharifzoda Saidhomid Safar expressed that due to the geographical position and the great contribution of our country — Tajikistan, from the first years of the independence is recognized as the initiator country at the regional and global level in the fight against terrorism, extremism, separatism, illegal drug trafficking and other security threats.

By the way, it was emphasized that with the direct efforts of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in the direction of confronting the «three evils» and other security threats in the country have been created structural and legal foundations, and with the initiative of the Government of the country and the support of domestic entrepreneurs, has been built and modernized the infrastructure of border facilities, which shows the unique contribution of Tajikistan not only in the direction of protecting the southern border of the country, but also the Commonwealth of Independent States, especially the Central Asian region.

At the same time, it was noted that the Republic of Tajikistan, in connection with these issues, is a supporter of greater strengthening of cooperation with the institutions of the United Nations and the countries of the Central Asian region, and is interested in further strengthening of this cooperation.
