On July 30, 2024, the Korean-Central Asian think tanks forum was held in Tashkent.
The forum was jointly organized by the International institute of Central Asia (IICA) and the Secretariat of the Central Asia + Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum.
The agenda of the forum included assessment and analysis of the current state and prospects of multilateral cooperation within the framework of “CA+Korea” format, as well as elaboration of proposals to expand cooperation in priority areas (politics, economy, trade, investment, water and humanitarian issues, climate change, science and education).
The event was attended by representatives of leading think tanks and research institutes, as well as representatives of interested ministries and agencies of five Central Asian countries and South Korea.
The tajik side was represented at the forum by Abdullozoda Masrur Ahmad, advisor to the Office of the Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on Social Development and Public Relations, Murtazozoda Oraz, first deputy director of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Rustam Rahmatzoda, member of the Committee of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli on energy, industry, construction and communications.
At the first session of the forum, the First Deputy Director of the Center for strategic research Murtazozoda Oraz made a report on the topic “Accelerated transition of the economy of the Republic of Tajikistan to an industrial development model in the context of the key partnership of Central Asia and the Republic of Korea”.
Speaking at the plenary session of the forum, Murtazozoda Oraz noted that “Today, the countries of Central Asia and South Korea are looking for opportunities to increase cooperation. Since they have great opportunities for cooperation, their effective use is for the benefit of all states.”
It was noted that “The Republic of Korea has always played an important role as a partner of Central Asian countries in the development of trade and economy, as an issuer of economic needs with modern quality technologies and investments in various spheres”.
At the end of his speech, Murtazozoda Oraz noted that “Mutually beneficial cooperation using advanced Korean technologies and exploitation of Central Asia’s rich natural resources can open new opportunities for mutually beneficial partnership and contribute to sustainable economic development, strengthening trade and economic cooperation in the fields of industry, energy, transportation, tourism, investment attraction, business development, industrial joint ventures and strengthening diplomatic relations”.
