On June 14, 2024, Astana hosted the VII Central Asian Experts Forum on the theme “Central Asia: the gravity of trust”.

The Forum is co-organized by the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KISI), the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Kazakhstan.

The agenda of the forum included discussion of expanding the space of trust between the countries of the region at the political, trade and economic, expert and public levels.

It should be noted that the event took place on the eve of the VI Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States, which will be held in August this year in Astana. Consequently, within the framework of the forum meeting, practical proposals and recommendations for this event on topical issues of regional development were developed on the basis of common expert positions.

The forum was attended by heads and experts of Presidential think tanks of CA countries, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Central Asia, Head of UNRCCA, as well as Country Director of Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Kazakhstan.

Khayridin Usmonzoda, Director of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, took part in the forum from the Tajik side.

Director of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Khayridin Usmonzoda made a report at the first session on the topic “Central Asia as a space of peace and common prosperity.”

Speaking at the first session devoted to the theme “Launching a new cycle of regional cooperation” Khayridin Usmonzoda emphasized that “despite the complexity of modern processes, the ties between the countries of Central Asia continue to strengthen and expand”.

It was noted that “the results achieved by our countries on this path are largely due to frequent exchanges between their leaders and the expert community”.

During his speech, the Director of the Center noted that “the countries of the region show their commitment to promoting the strengthening of cooperation mechanisms in the region, both in the framework of the regional summit and in other suitable venues. Particularly the format of the Regional Summit of Heads of State, which includes a great deal of potential for coordination and communication to promote active multilateral ties and broad cooperation”.

Khayridin Usmonzoda emphasized that “according to the global sustainable development goals and commitments of countries to implement climate change plans, the development of green production capacities becomes relevant. Thus, the Republic of Tajikistan is interested in providing Central Asian countries with its need for access to water, green energy, environmentally friendly agricultural products”.

Also, the Director paid attention to the issues of ensuring security in the Central Asian region and emphasized that “the Central Asian countries largely share a common vision of stability in the region, and the Republic of Tajikistan, for its part, acts as an equal partner with the countries of the region in strengthening the stability of the region”.

At the end of his speech, the Director of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan noted that “constructive relations between our countries will continue to bring fruitful results in the new epoch, bringing tangible benefits directly to our peoples, creating a model of worthy imitation for other parts of our common Asian region and the world as a whole”.

We remind you that in accordance with the established order, next year (2025) it is planned to hold the VIII Central Asian Experts Forum under the chairmanship of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan in Dushanbe.
