On the initiative of the Scientific-Analytical Information Center of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and with the support of the CSTO Secretariat, an international scientific-practical conference on «The situation of Afghanistan and its impact on the security of the region» was held in Moscow, Russian Federation.
Representatives of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Iran participated in the conference and discussed the political, security and economic situation of Afghanistan after two years of “Taliban” rule in this country, and they exchanged views on its consequences for the CSTO’s countries and beyond.
In the mentioned event from the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan participated and spoke the Director of the Center Khayridin Usmonzoda and the head of the Department of Analysis of Macroeconomic Issues Oraz Murtazoev.
Director of the Center Khayridin Usmonzoda spoke on the topic of «Afghanistan’s new crisis in the geopolitical process of the Central Asian region» and mentioned in particular that the result of two years of «Taliban» rule showed that the situation in Afghanistan not only did not balance, but gradually worsened and its threats are increasing. Because the analyses show that the illegal trafficking of drugs, the attacks of terrorist groups from Afghanistan to the countries of the region, especially to Tajikistan, and the illegal crossing of the border have double increased from previous years.
At the same time, it was emphasized that the promises of the «Taliban» regarding the observance of human rights, the creation of an all-inclusive government with the wide participation of the political and ethnic forces of Afghanistan were not fulfilled during the two years of being in power. On the contrary, the situation in this country is becoming more complicated day by day in every aspect, and ethnic struggles and ethnic groups are increasing. Therefore, regarding Afghanistan, it was noted that without the establishment of an inclusive political and ethnic government in this country, it is impossible to ensure an effective system of governance, security and peaceful development.
The international conference ended with a fruitful dialogue about the current situation of Afghanistan and its impact on the countries of the region and the world.
The next day, October 4, the director of the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Khayridin Usmonzoda met with the director of the Scientific-Analytical Information Center of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Political Sciences Nikolay Dmitrievich Plotnikov.
