The Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, within the framework of a permanent system of comprehensive effective discussions and consultations on strategic issues of the country’s development, on June 30, 2023, held a republican scientific and practical conference on “Improving the directions of development of the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Tajikistan in the light of the industrialization of the economy”. The summit was attended by representatives of relevant government ministries and departments, research centers and institutes, higher professional educational institutions and leading experts.
In his opening speech, Director of the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Khayriddin Usmonzoda congratulated the participants of the scientific and practical conference and noted that today’s society of Tajikistan has entered a new stage of modernization with the proposal of its strategy called “Rapid industrialization for the ensuring a decent life of the people”. The initiative of such a renewal of society is considered as a factor of economic development and improvement of people’s lives.
The proposal of the accelerated industrialization project of our country was announced by the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, his excellency Emomali Rahmon, in his next Address to the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan (December 2018), taking into account the importance of industry in solving socio-economic problems and creating new jobs, reducing poverty as the fourth strategic goal. In order to make this goal a reality, it is considered necessary to carry out high-quality industry programs, wide participation of investment projects, and the creation of new production enterprises. For this purpose, a number of sectoral programs are currently being implemented for ensure the Action Plan dedicated to the “Years of industrial development for 2022-2026”, the purpose of which is to create conditions for the gradual transition of the economy of our country from the forms of production of raw materials to the producer of final products. With the implementation of such actions in recent years, a positive development trend has been maintained in the industry of our country, in some of its areas, the growth rates of production of goods and services have been ensured.
At the same time, industrialization means ensuring the existence of a series of conditions, among the most important of which is the creation of a favorable environment for attracting investment, innovations in the activities of economic institutions, the widespread inclusion of people, especially women, in the labor market and their presence in other areas of public life, focus on innovative economy, etc.
One of the vital areas is the development of the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Tajikistan in the light of the industrialization of the economy. After the announcement of the fourth goal of industrialization, the field of agro-industrial complex of our country also developed and achieved significant changes and progress. However, there are still unsolved problems in the field of agro-industrial complex that hinder the progress and development of the industrialization process.
The goal of today’s conference is to assess the current situation and use practical recommendations to improve the directions of development of the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Tajikistan in the light of industrialization of the economy. We are confident that the scientists and specialists participating in this conference will discuss and evaluate the process of industrialization of our country in various fields of the agro-industrial complex of our country and offer useful and valuable recommendations to solve the problems of this field, — said Khayriddin Usmonzoda at the end of his speech.
Then, in front of the participants spoke and gave satisfactory answers to the questions of the participants of conference head of the Research Department of Sectoral Development Issues of the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Imomnazar Karimiyon, on the topic «Improving the development directions of the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Tajikistan in the light of the industrialization of the economy», d.h.s, senior researcher of the Economic Research Institute of the Ministry development of economy and trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Bodur Mirzoev on the topic «Processing of the mineral complex of Tajikistan in order to obtain useful elements, including mineral and organic fertilizers», d.e.s, professor, chief specialist of the Research Department of Sectoral Development Issues of the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Ikhtiyor Ashurov on the topic «Puzzles of the development of the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Tajikistan and their solutions», the head of the Association of Businesswomen of the Republic of Tajikistan Sabohat Rahimzoda on the topic «Access of Tajik women in self-employment with the help of digital technology», the head of the development department of the SUE of «Sanoatsodirotbank» Bakhtiyor Abdullozoda on the topic «Financing of the agro-industrial complex», head of the Light and Cocoon Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan, Abdurauf Pulotov on the topic «Cotton fiber processing complexes in the Republic of Tajikistan: possibilities and prospects of the industry».
After that, the participants of the conference expressed useful and valuable opinions about the presented reports.
Director of the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Khayriddin Usmonzoda summarized the conference and expressed his gratitude to the participants for their active participation and useful opinions.
