On April 13, 2023, the director of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Usmonzoda Khayridin, met with the head of the Department of information and public relations of the Secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Yuri Shuvalov.
At the beginning of the meeting, Director of the Center greeted the guest and mentioned that CSTO plays an important role in ensuring the security of the member states in the rapidly changing regional and international situation.
It was emphasized, that Tajikistan, as one of the founders of the organization, highly values its role in strengthening and maintaining global stability. Therefore, our country expands cooperation with CSTO and considers the activities of the organization suitable with the national interests of all member states.
Also it was mentioned, that the Republic of Tajikistan during its leadership, made efforts to strengthen cooperation between the member countries and strengthen the military-technical potential of the organization. CSTO has repeatedly proved itself as an organization that strengthens stability and advocates for peace. The organization conducts an uncompromising fight against the threats of the modern world, including international terrorism, religious extremism, separatism, drug trafficking, cyber-terrorism and cybercrime.
Usmonzoda added that the Center constantly conducts scientific and practical research on various aspects of the organization’s activities and holds conferences and round tables.
In turn, the head of the information and public relations Department of the CSTO’s Secretariat Yu.Shuvalov expressed gratitude for the sincere reception and noted that the role of Tajikistan in the development and strengthening of the organization is very great. Especially, the efforts of the head of state of Tajikistan, his excellency Emomali Rahmon, in the shaping of CSTO and its formation were recognized as unique. It was noted that member states should to strengthen cooperation within the framework of organization. Because the complex and tortuous international and regional situation has doubly increased the importance of strengthening relations in the military-political direction within the organization.
It should be noted that Yu.Shuvalov considered the importantance to hold joint meetings between the Center for strategic research and the CSTO in connection with strengthening security. Yu. Shuvalov also emphasized that Tajikistan’s recent initiative on water resources is important and timely, and proposed within the framework of the organization, along with other risks, to establish new cooperation to prevent water scarcity and climate-related threats. Yu.Shuvalov expressed hope that in the future Tajikistan, as an active and initiation member, will contribute to strengthen the organization.
Yuri Shuvalov stressed that the CSTO secretariat is interested in considering issues related to regional and international security together with the Center for strategic research and with the involvement of other experts, and giving concrete proposals to the leadership on strengthening the organization’s activities
The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere.
