DUSHANBE, 07.06.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – On the sideline of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development 2018-2028,» President Emomali Rahmon received the OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid.
The meeting included a discussion about a set of issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and the OSCE.
President Rahmon noted that Tajikistan attaches great importance to the role of the OSCE in ensuring peace, stability and security in its zone of influence.
The presence of the highest OSCE delegation in the conference evidences the organization’s constant attention to these pressing regional problems.
Discussing certain topical aspects of bilateral trade, economic, environmental, humanitarian, and security cooperation, they also emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation in order to overcome the consequences of the spread of the coronavirus, as well as the challenges associated with climate change and natural disasters. The parties exchanged views on combating terrorism and extremism, illegal arms and drug trafficking, transnational organized crime, and establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan.
