DUSHANBE, 27.11.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – On the sidelines of the 15th Economic Cooperation Organization Summit, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat.
Their discussion focused on the current state and prospects of developing Tajik — Turkmen relations, as well as current international and regional issues.
While expressing gratitude for the invitation to take part in the ECO Summit, President Rahmon stressed that the previous agreements reached following Tajik – Turkmen summit talks will serve to further strengthen the friendly relations and cooperation between the countries.
The two sides also discussed promising areas of cooperation with an emphasis on trade, economy, education, science, industry, agriculture, transport, cargo passenger transportation, and the use of Turkmen seaports for the transit of Tajik cargo.
They stressed that the effective work of the Tajik-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission can make a constructive contribution toward the implementation of the mentioned goals.
Another issue on the agenda concerned the situation in the region and the world at large. The officials looked in detail at the prospects for cooperation within international organizations such as the UN, and ECO, and support for each other’s global initiatives in the international arena.
