DUSHANBE, 11.10.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Within the framework of his working visit to Brussels, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with President of the European Council Charles Michel.
Expressing his gratitude for the warm welcome President Rahmon noted that he is confident that the results of the talks will give a serious impetus to the expansion of multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union.
A number of forward-looking topics on the bilateral cooperation agenda were discussed, including in industry, mining, infrastructure, hydropower, energy, water resources, climate change and mitigation, agriculture and tourism, as well as the development of the EU-Tajikistan Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement that will be to the benefit of both parties.
The targeted implementation of the new EU Strategy for Central Asia and the role of the Multi-annual Indicative Programme 2021-2027 were noted considered important.
While discussing boosting ties in education, they also touched upon bilateral collaboration in the field of security, with an emphasis on the situation linked with the developments in Afghanistan.
At the end of the conversation, President Rahmon invited the President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel to pay an official visit to Tajikistan.
