Heroes of Tajikistan

The highest state title of the Republic of Tajikistan — Hero of Tajikistan — is awarded for outstanding service to the state and the people. The title is awarded to citizens who have shown military and labor heroism for the sake of freedom, independence and development of the Republic of Tajikistan. The title of Hero of Tajikistan was established on July 31, 2001.

 

 Sadriddin Ayni

 

Sadriddin Ayni (1878–1954) — writer, scholar, and founder of modern Tajik literature. The first president of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan. Author of the works such as “The History of the Manghit Emirs of Bukhara”, “The History of the Intellectual Revolution in Bukhara”, “Samples of Tajik Literature”, “Dokhunda”, “Slaves”, “Memoirs”, and others, translated into 29 foreign languages. Awarded the highest title of Hero of Tajikistan in 1997.

 

 

 

 

 

 Nusratullo Makhsum Lutfulloyev

 

Nusratullo Makhsum Lutfulloyev (1881–1938) — statesman and party leader. In 1924-1926 he was Chairman of the Revolutionary Committee of the Tajik SSR, in 1926-1933 — Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Tajik SSR. Unjustly executed. Awarded the highest title of Hero of Tajikistan in 2006.

 

 

 

 

 

Shirinsho Shotemur

 

Shirinsho Shotemur (1899–1937) — statesman and party leader. In 1929-1931 he was Secretary of the Communist Party of the Tajik SSR, in 1933-1937 — Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Tajik SSR. Unjustly executed. Awarded the highest title of Hero of Tajikistan in 2006,

 

 

 

 

 

Bobojon Gafurov

 

Bobojon Gafurov (1909–1977) — scientist, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences, party and stateman leader, author of the globally renowned book “Tajiks” and over 300 works and articles. In 1944-1946 he was the second secretary, in 1946-1956 – the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Tajikistan. From 1956 to 1977, he headed the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences. Awarded the title of Hero of Tajikistan in 1997.

 

 

 

 

Mirzo Tursunzoda

 

Mirzo Tursunzoda (1911–1977) — national poet, Chairman of the Writers’ Union of Tajikistan, Hero of Socialist Labor, Chairman of the Committee of Solidarity of Asian and African Peoples. For his poems “The Tale of India” (1948), “Hasan the Cart Driver”, “Eternal Flame”, “The Voice of Asia” (1960), “Sweet Life” (1963), he was awarded state prizes of the USSR, the Tajik SSR, and the international Jawaharlal Nehru Prize (1967). Awarded the title of Hero of Tajikistan in 2001.

 

 

 

 

Emomali Rahmon

 

Emomali Rahmon — President of the Republic of Tajikistan. On November 19, 1992, at the 16th session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, he was elected Chairman of the Supreme Council. On November 6, 1994, he was elected President of the Republic of Tajikistan for the first time, and re-elected in 1999, 2006, 2013 and 2020. In 1999, for strengthening the independent statehood and ensuring peace in the Republic of Tajikistan, he was awarded the title of Hero of Tajikistan.
