THE IMPORTANCE OF ENGLISH IN THE LIFE OF ANALYSTS

“Zabon doni — jahon doni” says a well-known Tajik proverb, which means: “The more languages you know, the more of the world you understand.” These words are still relevant today because the modern world is becoming more open and interconnected. Knowing a foreign language helps people gain new knowledge, communicate with people from different countries, learn about modern technologies, and discover new opportunities.

English is extremely important for analysts who work with large amounts of information. An analyst must be able to work with numbers, identify patterns, compare data, and draw accurate conclusions. However, professional knowledge alone is not enough. Analysts need to continue learning and keep up with changes in the world. Therefore, without knowledge of English, it can be difficult for an analyst to work with modern professional information.

Today, a significant amount of professional information is published in English. This includes scientific articles, research papers, analytical reports, statistical data, news, instructions, and educational materials. For example, a new article or software documentation may appear in English before it is translated into Tajik. As a result, a specialist may have access to less information and learn about important changes later than others.

When a new method of analysis or research appears in a particular field, information about it may first be published in English. An analyst who knows English can read the research earlier, understand the new approach, and decide whether it can be useful in their work.

Every day, specialists work with programs and technologies such as Excel, SQL, Python, and Power BI. These tools are constantly developing, so professionals need to find answers to new questions quickly. The internet contains instructions, videos, and advice from specialists from all over the world. However, much of this material is available in English. Knowledge of English allows analysts to find the information they need independently and solve work-related problems more quickly.

English also gives people access to courses, books, lectures, and practical materials. This makes it possible to learn from specialists from different countries and gain knowledge from international sources.

In Tajikistan, great attention is also paid to learning Russian and English. On April 4, 2003, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan issued Decree No. 1047, “On Improving the Teaching and Learning of Russian and English in the Republic of Tajikistan.” The document emphasizes the importance of these languages for the development of international relations, scientific and technological progress, and the use of modern information technologies.

In 2022, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, noted that young people, in addition to the state language, should know at least two foreign languages at a high level, and that every student, regardless of their field of study, should learn foreign languages. This is especially important for future analysts because their profession is closely connected with information, technology, and continuous learning.

Continuous learning is an important part of an analyst’s profession. The world is changing rapidly, and new technologies, data analysis methods, and modern approaches to research are constantly appearing.

However, learning is not always easy. At the beginning, people are usually interested in learning English because they understand its benefits and see new opportunities. However, after some time, this interest may disappear. The reasons may include a lack of quick results, limited time, difficult material, fear of making mistakes, or insufficient practice. When people do not see progress, it becomes harder for them to stay motivated and continue learning.

For an analyst, this problem is particularly important. If a specialist stops learning English, it becomes more difficult to work with modern sources, study new technologies, and keep up with professional developments. Therefore, it is important not only to start learning but also to maintain interest and motivation over time.

English also plays an important role in professional communication. Many companies cooperate with foreign partners and have international teams. An analyst may need to communicate with foreign colleagues, participate in online meetings, write emails, or present the results of their work in English.

An analyst’s work does not end with processing data. It is also important to explain to colleagues what the data means and why a particular conclusion was reached. If this explanation needs to be given in English, the specialist must be able to express their ideas clearly and effectively.

An analyst who knows English can apply for a wider range of jobs, participate in international projects, and work remotely with foreign companies. This provides an opportunity to gain new experience and expand professional connections. It is not necessary to speak English perfectly from the beginning. First of all, it is important to understand basic professional terms and be able to read information related to your work. Gradually, a person can develop speaking, writing, and professional communication skills.

Learning can begin with simple activities: studying new words, reading articles related to your profession, or watching professional videos in English. The most important thing is to study regularly and use the knowledge in practice.

Thus, English plays a very important role in the work of a modern analyst. It helps professionals access information, learn new technologies, find solutions to work-related problems, communicate with foreign colleagues, and develop professionally.

The Tajik proverb “Know a language — know the world” expresses this idea very well. Knowledge of a language helps people discover the world and better understand what is happening around them. This is especially important for analysts because their profession is closely connected with information, knowledge, and continuous development.

Therefore, today English is not simply a school or university subject. It is a real professional tool. It helps people learn, work, communicate, and build their careers. The better a specialist knows English, the more information and opportunities are available to them.

In the modern world, knowledge and skills are an important advantage. Therefore, learning English is an investment in education and the future. For an analyst who wants to develop professionally and remain in demand, English is becoming one of the essential skills that opens the door to new opportunities.
