President Emomali Rahmon received the heads of delegations of the meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the CIS member states

On May 16, at the Palace of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, received the heads of delegations of the next meeting of the Council of heads of security agencies and special services of the CIS Participating States.

At the beginning of his speech, the Head of State welcomed the participants of the meeting and highly appreciated the joint efforts and coordinated activities of the security structures and special services of the CIS countries.

At the same time, the Leader of the Nation, noting the complex international political situation, particularly emphasized the tendency of increasing pressure from global threats and dangers on the regional security system.

In particular, the further increase in the threats of international terrorism, extremism, manifestations of radicalization and transnational organized crime, the intensification of drug and arms trafficking, and cybercrime were listed as the main security threats.

It was also noted that Tajikistan has developed and adopted two strategies to combat extremism and terrorism in order to implement the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.

In conclusion, the Head of State emphasized Tajikistan’s commitment to continuing the effective fight against terrorism and extremism and strengthening practical cooperation on security issues, including by using the opportunities of the “Dushanbe Process on Combating Terrorism and Extremism.”
