ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE «TAJIKISTAN AND THE UN: COOPERATION FOR STRENGTHENING PEACE, PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT»

On August 28, 2025, the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan will hold a scientific and practical conference “Tajikistan and the UN: cooperation for strengthening peace, peaceful coexistence and sustainable development” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the UN.

It should be noted that 80 years ago, in 1945, after World War II, representatives of about 50 countries gathered in San Francisco to lay the foundation of an organization that would prevent the repetition of the horrors of devastating wars.

On June 26, 1945, the UN Charter was signed, and on October 24 of the same year, after ratification by member states, it entered into force, which is considered the official date of the creation of the UN.

2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter, the founding act of the organization that remains the center for maintaining international peace and security today.

Preventing a new large-scale war since 1945 is the result of the joint efforts of countries and the dedicated service of the UN in the name of international peace and security. Despite the difficulties, multilateral diplomacy remains a powerful lever to counter potential divisions in the international community.

In this regard, at the conference organized by the CSR, participants will discuss the achievements of the last eight decades and ways to create an inclusive and responsive multilateral system, the future of multilateralism and the changing role of the UN in the modern geopolitical environment, as well as Tajikistan’s contribution to ensuring global peace, security and sustainable development.

The speakers will also make reports and presentations on the following topics:

  • “The Role of Tajikistan in Achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.”
  • “Basic Principles for the Development of International Cooperation of the Republic of Tajikistan within the Framework of the UN Millennium Development Goals.”
  • “The Role of the UN in Supporting Women and Their Employment”.
  • “Assessment of Tajikistan’s Fulfilment of Obligations to UN Structures and Conventions on Environmental Protection”, etc.
