VISIT OF THE EUROPEAN UNION’S SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE FOR CENTRAL ASIA, MR. EDUARD STIPRAIS, TO THE CENTER

On May 29, 2025, the Director of the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Khairiddin Usmonzoda held a meeting with the Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia, Mr. Eduard Stiprais.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the state and prospects of cooperation within the framework of the strategic partnership between Tajikistan and the European Union, including issues of sustainable development, regional security and adaptation to climate change. Special attention was paid to the importance of expert support in the implementation of priority national and regional initiatives, as well as in shaping the strategic agenda of Central Asia.

Mr. Stiprais highly appreciated Tajikistan’s efforts in promoting a constructive foreign policy, including through initiatives launched at the United Nations, especially in the field of sustainable development and water diplomacy. He also stressed the important role of think tanks in shaping a meaningful dialogue between the European Union and Central Asian countries. In turn, the director of the Center, Khairiddin Usmonzoda, expressed gratitude for the constructive and consistent cooperation with the institutions of the European Union and noted the importance of regular consultations with EU representatives to develop balanced and pragmatic approaches to regional challenges.

The parties expressed interest in expanding expert exchange and joint analytical work in the context of EU initiatives in the region, including within the framework of the new EU strategy for Central Asia.
