MEETING OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE CENTER WITH THE AMBASSADOR EXTRAORDINARY AND PLENIPOTENTIARY OF THE KINGDOM OF THE NETHERLANDS TO THE REPUBLIC OF TAJIKISTAN

On May 28, 2025, a meeting took place at the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan between the Director of the Center, Usmonzoda Khayridin Usmon, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Tajikistan (with resident in Astana), Mr. Nico Schermers.

During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation, including cooperation in the research field, the expansion of cultural and educational exchanges, as well as the prospects for joint analytical events.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the possibilities of cooperation within the framework of international initiatives in the field of water resources, including the participation of research institutions of the two countries in projects aimed at sustainable development. In this context, the importance of Tajikistan’s initiatives on sustainable water resources management, which are actively supported by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, was emphasized, including through multilateral cooperation, especially at the United Nations.

Taking into account the Center’s interest in establishing scientific and analytical cooperation, the possibilities of interaction with strategic research centers in the Netherlands were discussed.

Both sides expressed their willingness to deepen the dialogue on regional security, climate risks and geopolitical transformations.

Ambassador Schermers stressed the Dutch side’s interest in deepening relations with Tajikistan and noted the importance of a strategic dialogue between the think tanks.

In turn, the director of the Center expressed his willingness to establish long-term cooperation with leading scientific institutions in the Netherlands.
