On May 22, 2025, the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan held a roundtable on the topic: “Implementation of the Goals of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Development of ‘Green’ Energy and the Prospects for Its Indicators,” dedicated to the announcement of 2025 as the Year of Glacier Protection.
The main objective of the event was to analyze the development of “green” energy and the ways to achieve the strategic goals of the Government in ensuring energy independence. Additionally, it aimed to assess the results achieved, identify opportunities for the development of the energy sector, and examine its future indicators.
The roundtable was opened with a welcoming speech by Murtazozoda Oraz, the First Deputy Director of the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor. He welcomed the guests and emphasized that in the context of globalization and intensifying political relations, the formation of green energy has become a crucial and necessary resource for the economic development of all nations.
Since the energy sector is a fundamental and vital industry for both industrial and social development, and indeed for the entire national economy, only through its progress and growth can favorable conditions be created for the advancement of all areas of life.
During the roundtable, representatives of ministries and agencies, as well as independent experts, delivered speeches. Among the speakers were:
Jurakhon Boboev, Head of the Sectoral Economic Analysis and Forecasting Department of the Center for Strategic Research, presenting on “Key Directions for Implementing Government Strategic Goals in ‘Green’ Energy Development and Its Prospects.”
Tuhfa Usmonova, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Economic Theory at the Technological University of Tajikistan, presenting on “Green Economy as a New Model of the Socio-Economic System: Necessity and Consequences.”
Anvardjon Davlatov, Senior Specialist at the Main Directorate for Real Sector Development of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, presenting on “Ensuring Sustainable Development through Effective Electricity Utilization in the National Economy.”
Mahmadsho Dosiev, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Public Finance Management and Digital Economy at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, presenting on “Ecological Entrepreneurship as a Factor in Implementing the Principles of the ‘Green’ Economy in Tajikistan.”
Kurbonali Khairullozoda, Head of the Energy Sector Department at the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, presenting on “Integration of Renewable Energy Sources, Particularly Solar Energy, into the National Energy System.”
Khairullo Faizullozoda, Senior Specialist at the Environmental Policy Monitoring Department of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, presenting on “The Role of the Environmental Protection Committee in ‘Green Economy’ and ‘Green Energy’ Issues.”
During the event, participants also discussed the following key issues:
- The role of new hydropower capacities in ensuring energy security during the country’s independence period.
- Defining the main directions for the development of “green” energy in Tajikistan and its future indicators.
- Implementation of state programs in the energy sector and strengthening cooperation with development partners.
- The role of the energy sector and the “green” economy in ensuring sustainable development in key industries of the national economy, such as industry, agriculture, transport, and financial services.
- Strategies for increasing the production capacity of industrial enterprises based on “green” energy development.
- Main pathways for achieving sustainable development under the framework of the Green Economy Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2023–2037.
- The importance of innovative industries and the necessity of applying modern technologies to achieve accelerated industrialization in the country as a strategic goal of the Government.
During the discussions, useful opinions and proposals were shared by the Deputy Director of the Center, Candidate of Economic Sciences Saodat Jurakhonzoda, and independent sectoral expert Temur Valamatzoda.
The roundtable was conducted in an atmosphere of constructive dialogue and mutual understanding.
